From injury to world record

An ankle injury almost forced US extreme athlete Tyler Andrews into retirement. After an operation, he went through a lengthy recovery phase in which kybun shoes played an important role.

“The shoes are very comfortable. I always wear them between my intense training sessions to recover.” The extreme athlete notices that the elastic, springy sole of the kybun shoes takes the pressure off his feet, knees and hips with every step.

How Tyler Andrews fought his way back can be seen in the video.

About Tyler Andrews

Tyler C. Andrews, born on 4 May 1990 in Concord, Massachusetts (USA), is one of the most versatile extreme athletes in the world. He specialises in trail running, ultramarathon and mountaineering and holds over 85 world records on some of the most demanding routes on earth.

His career did not begin without hurdles: at the age of six, Tyler was diagnosed with a rare and life-threatening blood disorder - aplastic anaemia. After successful treatment, he fought his way back to life and started running. He studied mechanical engineering at Tufts University and developed from an average hobby runner into a world-class athlete.

After years in marathon and ultramarathon - including victories at the Vermont City Marathon (2014, 2017, 2018) and a silver medal at the 2016 IAU 50 km World Championships - Tyler shifted his focus to high-altitude sports. Since then, he has set world records on Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Mount Fuji, Manaslu and many other peaks.
